Chironomids form a staple part of a trout's diet they feast on these all year round and although can be used on most rivers and streams they are possibly most renowned on still waters. the slower the retrieve the better or fish them static. the bead head chironomids sink faster than their non bead head counterparts making them a deadly fly in deeper waters. If you want to have fun one day take your kids down to your local pond and throw a couple of chironomids to the abundant pan fish they just go crazzee for them.
